Let's be real here. Turning thirty does not qualify someone as being over the hill. Sure, it might be a difficult milestone for some (particularly some women!). It is indeed a time of change. Unlike the previous decade that was filled with carefree college antics, youthful energy and wild moments, hitting the thirties means a fully-charged career, kids and a whole lot of serious issues to deal with - like finances and taxes. For many, turning thirty is coming to grips with the fact that they will never be twenty-something again. But still, the thirtieth birthday shouldn't be denoted by black balloons and gag gifts. It should be marked by a whimsical celebration! Thirty is truly when one becomes a "young adult." So if you know someone who is quickly approaching this magnificent milestone, here are some gift ideas to celebrate their birthday in a light hearted way:
Personalized Share of Starbucks: They've spent half their life hanging out there, so why not give them their own little piece of Starbucks? Visit Oneshare.com to buy them a share of this international coffee empire. You'll receive a personalized framed copy of their stock certificate, which they can proudly display on their home or office wall. Include a quote like Building Your Financial Freedom One Cup at a Time or add your own. You'll be buying them a little piece of retail history.
Kayaking Experience: Whether they know how to kayak or not, they'll love the adventure of taking on the wild rapids! Look for daily or weekend kayaking excursions in your local area. Go online or check your yellow pages for canoe and kayak trips and classes.
Blast from the Past Board Game: Give them a chance to take a trip back through the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's and test their nostalgic memory. This is a fun-filled gift that will give hours upon hours of laughs. You recipient will be surprised how much they remember! And how much they want to forget!
TV Series on Video or DVD: If they're really hooked on a certain television show or if they used to be hooked on one, here's a terrific gift that they're sure to enjoy: buy them an entire season of their favorite show on video or DVD! Some ideas are The Dukes of Hazzard, Dallas, Nip/Tuck, the West Wing, ER, Everybody Loves Raymond, Friends or Sex and the City.
Bookstore Gift Certificate: Gift certificates are the perfect solution when you can't seem to find the right gift. For someone just turning thirty, an appropriate selection is the gift of reading. So opt for a gift certificate to the corner bookstore or the behemoth of them all, Amazon.

Idea for 30th Birthday Gift for Wife
If your wife is about to turn 30, you can help her celebrate by letting her know how much she means to you by giving her the perfect gift. Her 30th birthday is a milestone that deserves to be celebrated. Any one of these ideas will forever mark her 30th birthday as one to be cherished for a life time. The best part will be knowing you played a major hand in making it happen for her.
Nostalgia
Nostalgic ideas from the year she was born are great ways to mark the occasion. Purchasing a "Your Special Day" copy of Life Magazine is a fun way to help your wife celebrate turning 30. She will treasure this original copy of Life Magazine dating back to the week she was born.
A photo collage using her baby pictures from birth to one year will also touch her heart. These can be displayed in a shadow box with, if you can obtain them, her first pair of booties, rattle or blanket. You can include a calligraphy copy of her birth certificate as well.
Make Her Dreams Come True
Give your wife the ultimate 30th birthday gift in the form of an adventure. There could be something she has mentioned always wanting to do but never took the time for, or didn't think she could afford it. You may know of something she missed out on as a kid that you can make happen for her today.
If she has never boarded a plane or a helicopter, these rides can be taken relatively inexpensively for you both at small municipal airports in your area. Taking to the skies is both exciting and romantic. Bring along the camera to get that special shot of the two of you.
If she never got that pony she had hoped for as a little girl you may want to consider taking her horseback riding. A weekend of horse riding lessons will be fun and memorable for the two of you. It will also be a chance to make a childhood dream come true for her.
30 Different Ways
An inexpensive idea that your wife will love more than diamonds or pearls is found in heart felt expressions of love and adoration. At your local paper store you can find small envelopes to hold business sized cards. On these cards, that you can print at home, write thirty things you love about her. Then, over the next month she can open one card each morning to be blessed by the many ways you adore her.
Another similar idea involves her friends and family. Have each of them write down a memory of time spent with your wife over the last thirty years. Make sure to provide beautiful cards for them so they can write these in their own handwriting. Place the cards in an ornate box that is hers to keep.
Don't Forget the Party
One of the best gifts you can give your wife on her 30th birthday is a party. Taking the time and effort to plan a party speaks loudly of your love for her. She'll appreciate the gesture for years to come. It might not be a bad idea to hire a photographer for the occasion so she can have pictures to look back on the day as she celebrated this milestone with loved ones.

Unless you're a child, let's face it, birthdays are never particularly welcome occasions. As they approach we feel a sense of dread at having to declare ourselves another year older, and once the day has passed, we have no choice but to get used to the fact that our youth is well on the way out.
The 30th birthday is no exception, in fact it's often considered the first in a line of scary milestones in life you'd rather not have to face. In truth it's really not so bad, if you can picture yourself at 40, looking back on it! In fact, 30 is actually an age to be rather proud of. You're still within the happy confines of youth, but hopefully, finally making your way in the world and having lots of fun along the way. It just goes to show, birthdays are just a state of mind. The important thing is that we celebrate these occasions in a big way, so that they're not the big milestones we'd rather forget, but days we'd very much like to remember.
There are lots of ways to make a 30th birthday unforgettable. It's a unique occasion, so encourage your 30 year old friend to celebrate in style. Whether they choose to have a huge party, a wild weekend away, or just a quiet meal with family and friends, you can make it special for them with 30th birthday gifts they'll love to receive.
30th birthday keepsakes to treasure
It's when those special birthdays come around that we need a gift that stands out from the rest. If your friend has a small child in their life, whether it be their own son or daughter, a Godchild or a niece or nephew that they adore, you can now have the child's fingerprint pressed into silver and made into precious jewellery. The fingerprint heart or flower pendant or cufflinks for a man, make beautiful 30th birthday gifts to keep for ever. Perhaps your 30 year old is planning an exciting future when they plan to venture forth and travel the world? A few exotic holidays are sure to be on the cards for anyone wanting to make the most of life, so why not give them something for the journey. The beautiful 'Travel notes' book is the perfect travel companion. It's just perfect for keeping mementos in the form of notes, photos and details of all the best hotels they've found along the way.
Memorable Days
Experience days make great 30th birthday gifts for anyone who is willing to try something new and exciting, and nowadays there's so much choice that deciding on the best experience is all the more exciting. Who could resist 30th birthday gifts that inspire and challenge, as well as introducing new hobbies for the future? Hobbies such as karting, horse riding and photography can all be bought and given as 30th birthday gifts. Tomorrow is only going to be another ordinary day, so why not make today an extraordinary occasion, especially as it's someone's birthday.
And who could think of a more memorable way to spend the day than by experiencing the thrill of driving a Lamborghini, or racing a Harley Davidson down the open road. Of course, the experience day you choose could also be simply a once-in-a-lifetime experience to commemorate their milestone. If they love the glamorous lifestyle, look no further than the London Hotel and Theatre break for two, for an occasion that really will be unforgettable.
Games they can play again and again
Do you remember when we didn't have to go out and spend a fortune to feel a sense of satisfaction? When we used to make our own entertainment and use our time to nurture the things that matter? They say that staying in is the new going out, so what could be better as 30th birthday gifts than games and trivia that provide fun for many occasions to come. If your birthday friend likes to entertain, they'll love the 'Dinner on the MS Titanic dinner party' game, an inspiring idea for a Titanic themed meal at the Captain's table with lots of Titanic trivia and even music from the era thrown in.
Alternatively, everyone loves a good murder mystery, and the 'Death by Chocolate' and the 'Champagne Murders' Murder mystery games have all the ingredients for a lively evening of intrigue. If they like their beer and wine, the 'SudoDrinku' game is sure to go down well, but the 'Ultimate Movie quiz' is also something that's sure to get everyone talking. With 30th birthday gifts like these, your only problem will be choosing which game will be best for playing at the birthday party!

What Happens When Women Aged 30 Years Old
The new age of adulthood: 30. Our extended adolescence has really, well, extended. But according to Josh Albertson, Lockhart Steele, and Jonathan Van Gieson, authors of the new "Book of Ages 30," life begins at 30. Thirty is cool. Party on, dude!
That should be good news to the 3,789,800 Americans who will turn 30 this year. Unlike their parents, today's thirtysomethings think of this milestone as a new beginning and not an end. Priorities shift. New things become important. Uh oh. Your adulthood is showing.
"When we started writing this book, I really didn't feel like there was a whole lot of buzz about being 30," Albertson told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Now there is a lot of talk of 30 being the new 21. People are looking at it as the beginning of adulthood. I think people put off growing up for longer. Sometimes people look up when they're 30 and sort of wonder where they are and what they've done."
So who are America's thirtysomethings and what do they have to look forward to? "Book of Ages 30" has an interesting take on it:
How Old IS 30?
If you're 30, you're old--specifically, you're older than 42 percent of all Americans. But you're not alone. Fifteen percent of Americans are also in their 30s.
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of Being 30
If you're 30, you've already lost 10 percent of your muscle mass. You're likely to be in debt to the tune of $20,000. But the good news is that you're also likely to be having sex 2.24 times a week.
Sex
While 81 percent of women and 71 percent of men have been married by their early 30s, there are plenty who are still virgins after their 30th birthday: 1 in 33 men and 1 in 25 women.
Your Good Looks
Men at 30 are on average 5' 10.2" tall and weigh 174 pounds, while 30-year-old women are 5' 4.6" tall and weigh 130 pounds.
Let's Talk Money
The median income for 30-year-old men is $30,510, while the median income for 30-year-old women is $21,473. On average, 30 year olds have held 7.5 jobs. They have a 24 percent chance of being promoted in the next year.
Career Peaks and Valleys
J.K. Rowling published the first volume in the "Harry Potter" series just before she turned 32. By 30, Harrison Ford went from being a carpenter to an actor in "American Graffiti," and back to being a carpenter. Remember Mr. T? At age 30, in case you wondered, he was about to play the villain in "Rocky III." When they were 30, no one other than their family and friends knew who Oprah Winfrey or Jane Austen were.
No More Naps
You're less likely to fall asleep at your desk than those young twentysomething whippersnappers down the hallway. Just over half of 18- to 29-year-olds report substantial daytime sleepiness, compared with 33 percent of the over-30 crowd.
Don't Shoot!
Nearly half, 45 percent, of all thirtysomethings own a firearm. In fact, more people in their 30s own firearms than do people in any other decade of their lives.
